Repeat Custom

If you texture for a living then it should be clear to you that producing a high quality textured finish is just part of the package. With recommendations being the main source of trade every household you enter has the potential to bring you more work. So from the time you give your estimate to clearing up after you have completed the job your professionalism is vital. Being polite, clean and tidy is just as important as the texturing itself. Here are some tips that will help you bring in those repeat customers.

When You Give An Estimate/Quote

  • Always turn up at the customers premises on time

  • Discuss thoroughly with the customer what is required and explain what options are available

  • Check thoroughly the area to be textured so you can tell what preparation is needed

  • Give the customer a chose of patterns that you can do

  • Put down in writing all the work to be carried out to complete the job and give a copy to the customer including the cost

  • Do not pressure the customer into giving you the job. Leave the estimate with your contact details so that they can think about it and get back to you

    Cleanliness

  • Always use dust sheets to cover the floor and put sheets down as a walkway to the front door so you don't leave dirty footprints

  • Use polythene sheets to cover any furniture that can't be moved out of the room

  • Use masking tape around light fittings etc if working around them

  • During texturing wipe up with a sponge any excess material around coving and tops of walls as you go along and wipe up any splashes immediately

  • When you have finished and the customer is happy that the job is complete then clear up thoroughly and make sure the room is as clean when you leave as it was when you entered, even if it means getting the vacum cleaner out!

    After Care

  • Explain when you leave about ventilation of the room for drying out purposes and how long before the texturing can be painted

  • Tell the customer to get in touch with you if there are any problems with the texturing once it has dried

  • If there is a problem with the work you have carried then make sure you sort it out to the customers satisfaction as soon as possible
